Enriching our community through the power and beauty of music.
Music In Place is a San Francisco Bay Area-based organization dedicated to supporting music through the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond. We create opportunities for musical performances to occur in nontraditional venues and for the public to access such performances, whether ‘in place’ or remotely, thereby educating the public about, and expanding access to, the musical arts.

MIP Welcomes Executive Director Brett Strader
The Board of Directors of Music In Place is pleased to welcome Brett Strader as our first Executive Director. Brett is an accomplished conductor, composer, and pianist and he brings over 20 years of experience in Arts Organizational Leadership to our team. He will provide visionary leadership to our Board, staff, and creative teams as we take Music In Place past the pandemic and into an exciting future.
Brett is the founding Artistic Director of Sing for America, a 10-year old community chorus of 100 singers from diverse walks of life who together raise money for their chosen charities and perform with world-class guest artists in an annual gala concert.
Since 2014 Brett has been a Musical Director and Artistic Associate for Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre in Pleasanton, where he also served a term as President of the Board of Directors. He is a frequent guest conductor for Lamplighters Music Theatre in San Francisco, where he specializes in directing Broadway-style musicals.
For the past 9 years Brett led a large and diverse music department at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church and in 2020 he conducted the San Antonio Symphony and Chorus in the premier performances of his original musical Remember (with book and lyrics by W. Blake Winchell).
Brett and his wife, harpist Krista Strader, have lived in the Bay Area for 17 years. He is passionate about creating art in collaboration with others and sharing it with our community. Please join us in welcoming Brett to Music in Place.
