Music In Place began in April, 2020 by a core group of music/video techies, legal, finance, and business professionals—who are also accomplished musicians—to expand public access to the Bay Area Musicians Community during the Covid-19 pandemic. Music In Place currently operates under the 501(C)(3) tax exempt status of the Sonoma County Philharmonic Orchestra in the process of applying for status as a California nonprofit public benefit corporation and an independent exemption from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our purpose is to create opportunities for musical performances to occur in nontraditional venues and for the public to access such performances, whether ‘in place’ or remotely, thereby educating the public about, and expanding access to, the musical arts.
We aim to:
Our hope is that music lovers will visit us on our website, on Facebook and on YouTube to learn about who we are, and what we are doing. We hope that a broad array of audiences will enjoy new music and video works made by these local musicians. We want to ask our community to lend their support to enable Music In Place to build momentum and make a positive impact on as many talented professional performing artists as possible.
